Hi, I’m Lena (she/her).
I was born in Switzerland in 1986. After several years in Ireland and New Zealand, I am now based in Bern. I have a Master of Science from the School of Social Justice (University College Dublin / An Coláiste Ollscoile, Baile Átha Cliath) and a PhD in Creative Writing (Te Herenga Waka / Victoria University, Te Whanganui-a-Tara).
I recently completed a novel titled The White Deer about a Jewish German-American spy who dreams of producing a Hollywood movie about his final WWII adventure. I am currently seeking representation for this novel.
In 2023, I developed a bilingual (German/English) creative writing module for students at Bern University of Applied Science in collaboration with Catrina Dummermuth and Tobias Keller. Our module ‘Einfach schreiben – Just write’ was nominated for a CS Award for Best Teaching in 2024 because of its practice-oriented curriculum that centers experimentation, play and awareness as foundations for writing.
I write a newsletter called The Star Container, with short essays focused on the planets, creativity and wisdom. It comes out twice a month. You can find all issues here.
